An open letter to the SLU Community in response to demonstrations on Grand Blvd:

SLU Students for Life is a chartered student organization dedicated to building a culture of life on campus and beyond. We are not affiliated with Operation Save America or States of Refuge, and we do not endorse the tactics they used in spreading their message on Grand Boulevard on September 17th.

As a club, we believe in using encouraging, practical means to educate our community about issues that affect life at all stages, rather than employing a confrontational approach. We emphasize the importance of offering tangible support to those in need, especially through the Pregnant and Parenting Student Assistance.

We recognize that abortion is a highly sensitive issue, and we would like to extend our sympathies toward anyone who was personally affected by the signage and words used in the recent demonstration. Confidential, free, compassionate resources are available to those who are affected by abortion. In particular, we would like to note the following:

     SLU Counseling Center http://www.slu.edu/university-counseling-center

     ThriVe St. Louis  http://www.thrivestlouis.org/

     Birthright St. Louis http://birthrightstl.org/

     Project Rachel (post-abortive healing) http://archstl.org/category/tags/project-rachel

Please contact us at any time for further information. It is our goal to serve our campus in a loving and life-affirming way.

Sincerely,

SLU Students for Life
